Elections are important milestones in democratic societies as they are the only regular institutionalized opportunities for citizens to decide who governs them, allow voters to hear politicians defend their records, criticize their opponents and propose policies for the future, provide the parties with the electorate’s verdict on the past and the preferences of the future and should provide voters with an informed choice.

Aujourd’hui, comme la majorité des Mauriciens, Christina et moi avons voté.
Ensuite nous avons pris la voiture pour sillonner quelques unes des circonscriptions de l’ile. Nous avons commencé au No 18 (Quatre-Bornes) où les deux alliances avaient déployé une lourde logistique (voitures, tables, agents, etc.)
Nous nous sommes ensuite rendus au No 19 (Rose-Hill), bastion de Paul Bérenger, et au No 20 (Beau-Bassin / Petite Rivière). Nous avons vu beaucoup d’animation dans les rues par les agents des deux alliances. Naturellement, ces deux circonscriptions sont mauves.
