Les Ministres

11 May 2010 1,845 views 36 Comments By christina

Selon Radio Plus, Navin Ramgoolam a attribué 25 portefeuilles ministériels.

    I wish good luck to all Ministers. Now they only have to implement what was promised in their electoral manifesto

    Nita Deerpalsing ne sera jamais ministre tant que Boolell et Bunwaree sont la, meme si elle est plus competente que Virasawmy au developpement durable par e.g. (a note que Virasawmy est le seul Telegu elu et donc automatiquement ministrable).

    Chellumbrum Pillay aux TIC, Pillay était le seul Tamoul du gouvernement. Meme considerations utilisé pour Sik Yeun: seul chinois, alors ki li finn rentrer lor la liste best loser G.P.

    C’est cela la modernite et la meritocracie a la mauricienne. :)

    The big news is that Rama Valayden is not the Attorney General anymore: Navin Ramgoolam prefers Yatin Varma.

    @Bruno

    C’est vrai que la “selection” de ministrables à Maurice doit être modernisé, tout comme les critères utilisés pour choisir les best losers.

    Rama Valayden est contre la peine de mort, alors que Yatin Varma a été parmi les premiers travaillistes à se prononcer pour, même bien avant le Premier Ministre.

    Laisse ecrire coz creol ene coute. Mo ena ene ti remark a faire a propos de Xavier.

    Kan li ti ministre tourism li ti gagne plein amusements – hang out @ the beaches, meet with international press, zote conne les reste.

    Et maintenant, Ramgoolam vini et mete li dans Intégration sociale et Economic Empowerment et dire: “C’est un ministère spécial que j’ai créé dans la lutte contre la pauvreté”

    Un peu comme ene punishment non? Pena beaucoup l’amusement la dans a moins ena ene ti fete un fois dans les temps. Mais si dans ene brighter side, Xavier pou feature dans la presse local beaucoup et sa ministere la pou retablir so image apres fiasco thalassa.

    En ce qui concerne Xavier, asterla li ena possibilité améliore l’existence boucou dimoun mizer. Bien sir, li pou moins amizé mais seki li pou faire pou plis important dans le long terme pour le developpement du pays. Ek Navin ine faire dimoun bien comprend ki pena place réservé.

    @Bruno

    Je ne crois pas que le Gouvernement reviendra sur sa décision de suspendre la peine de mort. Voir http://www.noulakaz.net/weblog/2010/02/25/politics-and-the-death-penalty/

  • Bruno said:

    @avinash
    Mo aussi mo ti croir ki peine de mort la ti enn decoy, mais la li pe vinn de plus en plus imminent. Ban abolitionists bizin mobiliser dans Maurice mo croir.

    Sinon, il faut faire ressortir qu’on a un gouvernement de droite maintenant. On a un ministre des finances “zero tax” –> politique de droite, et un groupe important pour la peine de mort dans le cabinet (Ramgoolam + MSM + Varma).

    @Fadil

    Pravind Jugnauth was Minister of Finance before and, as far as I remember, he did well. In fact, I (mini) blogged on that in 2005. See http://www.noulakaz.net/weblog/2005/04/04/we-all-live-in-a-duty-free-island/

    By the way, did you examine every frame of yesterday’s broadcast?!?

    Incidentally, it’s not 7:15 and I’ve just heard Xavier Duval say that “ça me fait beaucoup de plaisir de pouvoir consacrer quelques années aux pauvres…” Is that enough?

  • veeren said:

    How can you judge that certain ministers are more competent than others even before they have worked in these positions? On which criteria do you base yourself?

  • B-B-R said:

    You have a point.

  • Ronny said:

    @BBR

    Its the perfect ministry for xavier.
    If he has a good communications advisor and takes care of ppl which his ministry is supposed to take care of, he might become as popular as his dad.
    So nita with her [...] the red supremacy in QB will need to be cautious, as still now apart from shouting around, has not yet showed what she can do for the ppl. And she was one of the responsible for the empowerment program…

    I heard Chedumbrum Pillay on Radio 1 on Tuesday and to be honest I’m not impressed. In didn’t seem to have a single clue about what IT was and definitely didn’t indicate his views about what he intends to do. I would strongly advise him to get the best advisors he could get, even if they are from the opposition, and get started. It is unacceptable that none of the government offices accept card payments when remote small shops can do so.

    I have a feeling that this ministry should have been combined with R&D and Tertiary Education.

  • avinash said:

    @Raj

    Let’s hope that he is sensible enough to surround himself with knowledgeable people who are doers (and not only talkers.) I am keenly interested to know how the OLPC project will be implemented here. But, first and foremost, there is a major work to be done in IT education in our country.

  • raj said:

    Avinash

    I personally believe that you’re the ideal person to make the OLPC project a success in this country. Since I know you’re a patriot can I suggest that you introduce yourself to the new IT minister and propose your services. I know it can be frustrating to bring forward new ideas but I think Mauritius will miss the technology train if we go on the traditional way. Teachers in this country are not properly valued, thanks to a few “brebis galeuese” but if you consider that a Guru has a higher status than parents in the hindu mythology it is not for nothing.
    The first and foremost group to take on board is the teaching staff, once they are convinced there’s nothing to stop the OLPC project. As for funds, lets say all new MLA’s choose 1800cc cars instead of 2500cc and save Rs2M per car.

  • Fadil said:

    I believe that bloggers (and other tweeps) should write to the new IT&Comm Minister and provide him a list of ideas (many extracted and re-edited from elections.mu/ideas.)

    He should adopt an open way of managing the sector – for e.g. he needs to get someone to publish most of the activities he is doing. The US senators have blogs and youtube channels. He sure can have a small blog.

    He should focus on merging the NCB to the BOI. The latter is currently seen as what the NCB should have been.

    He should definitely meet with Open Source advocates and not be misled by “advisors” and “lobbyists” into believing that MS is almighty.

    Citizens should remind him of the OLPC.

    Aside from the above, he needs to solve current Cybercity management issues (which pop in on the news once in a while), work to make Mauritius more business-friendly, work with all Ministries esp. the Ministry of Tertiary and Education to promote entrepreneurship in the IT sector at a young age. It should be possible and feasible for children below the age of 16 to launch their own startups in this field. Note: I don’t know anything about the “How” part but you can elaborate more on existing ideas, propose new ones and use elections.mu/ideas)

  • Fadil said:

    BTW, which ministry is responsible for the management of the media and press? It’s about time that bloggers are given press passes.

  • Fadil said:

    P.S
    There’s something else I’d very much like the Gov/IT Ministry to work on – amending any policies @ Orange (MRU Gov. have shares, right? Orange will definitely complain) and ICTA to ensure that anybody can set up an Ad Hoc network (both secure and insecure – this is left at the discretion of the admins/users) and share access to the Internet (via any ISP) to a group of people anywhere and at any time.

    @Veeren
    Mo finn simplement constater ki pas seulement competence ki finn considerer pou forme cabinet la. La raison kifer mo finn fer sa critik la c a coz sa govt la finn elu avec slogan “modernité”. Mo pas trouv nanier moderne pou met enn Virahsawmy (seul telegu du govt) ministre de l’ile Durable dans plas enn Deerpalsing ou Sayed Hossen ou Assirvaden. C’est tout.

    Plusieurs ministres actuels finn deja prouvent zot incompetence dans le passée (Abu Kassenally, Aimée, BBJohn, Bachoo – comier fois li finn minis transport ek ena encore embouteillage, Choonee) ek plusieurs aussi ti deja prouve zot competence (Bodha dans tourisme, Boolell ek Bunwaree) Attendons voir …

    Mo reserve mo jugement lor Jugnauth. Mo pas trop d’accord ek sa notion “zero tax” la. Seul facon ki ca concept la marcher sans consequences dramatik pou lekonomie c’est en augmentan la consommation, ek mo pas convaincu que c’est la direction qu’une ile durable bizin poursuivre.

    @bruno

    Your comments are clearer now. My personal view is that we ought not bring to everything to ethnocasteiste reasons. Yeah, we know there is a dose of it. There are other reasons as well.

    A couple of years ago, I went for an interview for a high position and the DRH and CEO both told me that they were looking for a candidate with the correct attitude and who they could trust.

    Competence was of course important. I did not get the job as I was putting my competence before evrything else (and a bit arrogannt about it!!!).

  • E.T. said:

    I think that late Sir Gaetan Duval would have been very enthusiastic about the new Ministry of Social Integration given to Xavier. He had a shadow ministry which was that of Emigration. Remember the exodus of our brains in the post-independence era. I think its a wonderful opportunity to have the expats to be able to vote in elections. I would call it Social Integration on international scale. Also an opportunity for the PMSD to prove itself to be a Parti Mauricien!
    About competence, for doing what? Remember there was a guy named Sithanen who did everything but did not read the book of Prince Machiavel! You need competence to be re-elected, thats all.

  • Bruno said:

    Le blog est mort?

  • avinash said:

  • Bruno said:

  • avinash said:
